Newly-wed Adventures

Greetings friends! Sorry, no pictures yet, but thought I'd give a little update anyway!

We had a little adventure this past weekend. Kyle and I took a business/pleasure combo trip to Indianapolis. We got to stop in and visit my cousins, and the plan was to meet them in downtown Indianapolis for a concert before heading back to their house. Well, we followed our directions, located our stop and started to pull into a parking garage - only to find that our tire had just gone flat! We limped into a handicapped parking slot right at the entryway to asses the damage. (You thought handicapped parking was for handicapped people, not handicapped vehicles, didn't you!) The whole situation turned out just about perfect (as perfect as a flat tire can be)! We had arrived safely, we got to go to our concert, and then the guys got the tire changed afterwards! We had such a fun visit, though too short. What could have been a major hassle ended up being just a blip on the screen!

At least, it was nothing more than a blip on my screen -but then, I didn't have to change the tire! ;-) - GJ

FYI

Greetings friends! We had a wonderful first weekend at our new home! My family came down and painted the entire kitchen, entry way and dining nook, plus ceilings and trim. It was great! They also moved in our new sofa and Kyle's (I mean, our) washer and dryer, all of which I have used almost continually since.

When I say my family painted, unfortunately that's what I mean. The only downside to the weekend was being sick. :-( I'm finally back on my feet after three days of high fever. Whew! I'm glad that's over with! During the weekend, we did joke a little bit about my illness increasing Kyle's productivity - somehow, he was not as inclined to stop for the infamous Newlywed's Kissing Breaks. Fancy that!

Well, I wanted to let you guys know a couple things so that you would have patience with my blogging self. First, I don't have internet access at home, thus, my posts will not be daily. Second, I don't currently have any way to load on pictures from any of our computers. So, I have all of Elisha's gorgeous wedding pictures here, and no way to share them with you . . . yet. I do prefer picture heavy blogs, so I do have some schemes in mind, but you'll have to hang in there a little longer! In the meintime, I shall endever to entertain you all with interestingly colored fonts. TA DA!

Home again!

After a delayed flight, Kyle and I arrived at my parent's house at about 1am. (Thanks Mom and Dad for picking us up at that early hour! It was fun to talk.) What a fun surprise to find our very own little "honeymoon suite" all fixed up for us!

Nate turned over his private apartments, while Mom, Haley and Matthew decorated with pictures, fresh flowers and homey knick-knacks, plus a handy bedside table, complete with alarm clock and romantic candle!

Not forgetting our special "Happily Ever After" sign, which was a little surprise at our reception!

Thanks guys for working to make a warm homecoming for us. It was greatly appreciated. We love you!

Honeymoon Excursions

We've had different people ask what we did on our honeymoon - well, not much! Favorite activities included eating, walking on the beach, swimming, eating, laying in a hammock, eating, reading, napping, eating, watching for whales and eating! It was SOOOO relaxing.





On one of our beach excursions, we came across this little fella - a dead puffer fish. Pretty neat, huh! Not your average rotting shore find, this was an exotic dead fish. It was bigger than I had pictured puffers being. That's Kyle's flip-flop for size comparison. I don't know if puffers swim in schools (there is a little research project for animal-expert Matthew), but we saw four or five washed up during our walk. Kyle wanted to bring it home and have it taxidermied for our wall. Can't you just see us going through customs with that thing? "Yes, I'd like to declare my Decomposing Puffer Fish - oh, careful with the eyeballs, there."



Right.

We did actually leave the hotel on Wednesday. We took a glass bottomed boat tour. It was great - fish watching, whale chasing, beach walking, rock viewing and boat ride all rolled into one!

Our one stop was an hour on the famous "Lovers Beach" . The only way to get there is by boat. Our captain took the boat as far in as he could, then we had to jump into the water when the waves were out and run on shore before the next wave. It made for a fun little adventure! The sequence of pictures below is Kyle's favorite, he thinks we should frame them. I don't think we should frame them.

Ha, ha, very funny. Hey, that water was frigid!

The rock formations were gorgeous! When we looked at the pictures, we were tempted to think that we are good photographers, the pictures were so nice. Something tells me it had more to do with the scenery!

Here is the famous "El Archo" that we saw in all the brochures and adds. You can see why, it was really beautiful!

Cabo San Lucas

With two inches of snow on the ground here in Oakland, it's hard to believe we were getting sunburned in 85 degree weather just a few days ago. Well, at least one of us got sunburned. ;-) Good thing I love snow!

We did have some excitement on our honeymoon. Our first flight left at 6am the morning after the wedding, so we asked for a 3:30am wake up call. Well, they didn't call! I woke up and looked at the clock at 3:42, and sat bolt upright in bed - we had to catch our shuttle at 4:00 sharp! We were out of that room in 10 minutes - talk about adrenaline rush.


For our honeymoon, Kyle and I went to Cabo San Lucas, on the very tip of the Baja peninsula in Mexico. We loved the green palms, rugged, scruffy mountains, and the orange, pink and red flowering bushes that we saw growing everywhere!

Our hotel was amazing! We tried out both pools, but mostly stuck with this smaller one on the "quiet side" of the hotel. Our gorgeous suite had two balconies overlooking the ocean.

We also spent a lot of time on the beach, walking and watching the waves and the whales. Cabo is right on a major migration route, so we saw lots of whales every day, usually pretty close in to shore. I had some good whale watching in Alaska, but we were just as close here, if not closer, just standing on the beach! I'm still not sure what kind of whales they were. We asked our waiter if they were blue whales, and he said "Si, si, whales!". We left it at that.

The hotel had five restaurants, which we tried in turn. This one was our favorite. I won't torture you all by describing the food, suffice it to say that it was beautifully presented and absolutely scrumptious!

We found this little creation in our bathroom one day - too cute!

Happy honeymooners! I had an absolutely fabulous time with my man. I am so blessed to have such a sweet husband! - GJ

Shower in Oakland

I'm late in getting this up, but I had the most lovely welcome from the Oakland area ladies!

What a gorgeous shower!

It was delightful to see so many people that I've met over the past year.

The Millers made everything so pretty and inviting.

All the Oakland folks have been so warm and welcoming! I am looking forward to joining such a sweet community - it's going to be a lot of fun.

I was so excited that my new Mom, Sisters and Aunt were able to come up!
Thanks for making the trip ladies!


My Gramdma Sisson also surprized me by coming up from Florida. Yea!
