Ten Minute Indulgence

These just finished blooming in our yard. I wish I could let you smell them!
BTW, I finally figured out how to arrange flowers in this very wide mouth pitcher: I don't! The flowers are actually in a slightly smaller (but very easy to work with) vase. Where there's a will . . .

Happy Hack Job

I've been cutting boys hair for years, but last week I decided to try my hand at a girl's  cut. A number of years ago I'd had a lesson from a hairdresser, and since I was getting a trim myself in a few days, I figured I could always get it fixed.
It's cuter than in these pictures that I took right afterwards, because it naturally curls under.
It was a rather traumatic hour, so I'm not sure if I'll try it again. Not traumatic because I don't like the result, but because I still have no idea how I got there!
I had intended to do a straight cut that was about two inches longer. I ended up with a U-cut at shoulder level! Good thing she's so cute - it's hard to mess Alaina up!
Didn't cut his hair, but I know you guys want to see him, right? Happy Tuesday!

Guess . . .

Guess which adorable baby has done some six hour stretches at night?

That's right! It's Baby James!
I'm hoping for a repeat performance tonight. ;-)

Hot

I don't know if you can read it, but Alaina wrote her first word.
She kept showing me different letters she could write, so we figured out a word she could make by herself. Big stuff!

This made me laugh . . .

"My brother and I have just had the experience of an American lady to stay with us accompanied by her two sons, aged 9 1/2 and 8. Whew! Lovely creatures — couldn’t meet nicer children — but the pace! I realize have never respected young married people enough and never dreamed of the Sabbath calm which descends on the house when the little cyclones have gone to bed and all the grown-ups fling themselves into chairs and the silence of exhaustion." - C.S.Lewis

Happy Mother's Day, from a chuckling Mom!

Bet you never knew . . .

. . . that it was possible to have an entire bath with your eyes closed.
 Well, now you know!
Baby James never opened his eyes until it was all over! Funny little guy!
