Sleep, sleep, sleep!

IMG_1742

This is a celebratory post in honor of a very special event!

IMG_1753

Our girly went almost six hours between two of her night feedings!

IMG_1767

Why is this important, you ask? It meant four and a half hours of sleep for Mom. :-)

IMG_1801

At this point, her tummy is too small to expect that to be a trend, but as a one time occurrence, it sure was enjoyed!

IMG_1808

Well, this is GJ signing out, and wishing you all a very good night's rest!

IMG_1748

Good night!

JFU Curly Girly

When I washed Alaina's hair the other day, it went all curly!

IMG_1789

Woah, look at that do!

IMG_1792

Isn't she a little sweetie pie?

IMG_1791

By the way, if you want to use some of her pictures from here for Sisson Times or whatever, you may.

Family Pictures

Lest you think that we've dropped off the face of the earth (or gotten permanently stuck behind the camera), here are some pictures with Kyle and I . . . as well as Alaina, of course!

It makes for good variations on a Baby theme!

Thanks to Mom the photographer for her excellent aiming and clicking!

WANTED FOR DISORDERLY CONDUCT ON 01/21 AT 3:16 AM

Her real name is Alaina Hope but also goes by the name of Darling, Sweety, Cutie, Sweety Pie, Peanut, etc... but answers to none of these. Can be seen in various Pooh gear and virtually irresistible to keep from kissing and hugging. These picture are too cute not to share.

It's hard work being cute . . .

Or "What newborns do best".

IMG_1672

We have a shocking lack of newsworthy information (unless you wanted to know how many diapers a day, or that sort of thing), however, the Aunts and Uncles want pictures. So, the Proud Parents oblige.

IMG_1673

This is Angel Baby. It seems that every baby gets their own special nickname (at least the babies in my family did), and since Alaina is so good most of the time, we call her Angel Baby. And a few other things. ;-)

IMG_1709

I can't believe I'm posting a picture of myself taken at 3 in the morning, just to show how cute Alaina is when she yawns! Am I infatuated, or what?

IMG_1688

Perhaps soon I'll try to get some pictures of "Sponge Baby" (she looks like a saturated sponge when she finishes eating), but those pictures might be harder to get.

Christmas

IMG_1558

Time to catch up on some old news. My side of the family came down after Christmas day to celebrate with us, and to stay with me while Kyle was down at his parent's 50th. (It's a good thing Alaina didn't come while he was gone. My labor was so short, I'm not sure he could have made it back in time!)

IMG_1559

IMG_1565

It was fun to have a crew to cook for again! (Although this crew helped out a lot with the cooking.)

IMG_1568

It's a family tradition to disguise at least a few gifts. Here is a gift from Matthew - my did it feel strange under the wrapping paper! Can you guess what is inside?

IMG_1561

IMG_1562

Whatever you guessed, you're probably wrong! I couldn't have guessed this one either.

IMG_1563

Ta da! A plug adapter!

Haley made me a custom necklace for my birthday out of crocheted wire! It is very pretty - what an interesting idea, huh?

IMG_1578

We also tried out several games.

IMG_1581

We're not listening!

IMG_1580

IMG_1582

Fondue is a favorite birthday meal for me. There's just something fun about eating off of long forks and getting to reach across the table. ;-)

IMG_1587

Kyle got home just in time to try some.

IMG_1592

IMG_1588

Thanks guys for coming down! It was great fun, and took a load off Kyle's mind too.

One final picture for all the fans . . .

Pictures and Promises

I had such wonderful times in the word before Alaina was born! I thought I would share some of the wonderful verses that the Lord gave me, along with a few more pictures. ;-)

IMG_1608

The Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love. - Psalm 147:11

DSC_0004

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because his trusts in Thee.  Trust ye in the Lord forever, for in Jehovah is everlasting strength. - Isaiah 26:3-4

IMG_1654

Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about what happens to you. - 1 Peter 5:7

IMG_1638

There is no one like the God of Israel, He rides across the heavens to help you, across the skies in majestic splendor. The Eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. - Deuteronomy 33:26-27

IMG_1646

Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you. Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. - Isaiah 41:10

IMG_1665

The Lord is righteous in everything He does; He is filled with kindness. The Lord is close to all who call upon Him . . . He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cries for help and rescues them. The Lord protects all those who love Him. - Psalm 145:17-20a

Quote of the Week: Lovable

Our friend Teresa shared something with us this week that I couldn't resist posting:

My Grandmother, when my first child was born, told me the first time she held him that I would always love him, no matter what, because that's what mommas do, but . . . how I raised him would determine whether anyone else would love him.

Of course, we must also post a picture or two. ;-)

Details

IMG_3726

It is with deep thankfulness that I can say God has done exceedingly abundantly above all that I asked or imagined. Thank you all so much for praying for us!

IMG_3716

Alaina arrived after a mere six hours of easy and peaceful labor. She had no complications, pain medications weren't even tempting, and the roads were clear. :-) It's a good thing too, since she came much faster than I had imagined she would!

IMG_3667

Kyle was a wonderful coach, taking care of me, talking me through, and especially encouraging me to push at the end, which was probably the hardest part. Well, either that or figuring out that I was actually in labor!

IMG_3736

Alaina was 7lbs, 13oz and 20 inches long. She looks a lot like me as a baby, with my thick black hair and pink/red skin, but she has Kyle's toes and long eyelashes.

IMG_3687

I'm being well cared for, progressing steadily, and loving every minute! Yes, even the night ones. ;-) What an amazing treasure she is!
