Boy Bump

We're coming up on 38 weeks, so I though I'd better get this up before it got too old. Here we are at 36 weeks, and I don't think I look much bigger at the moment. I don't feel too too crowded either, unless I'm trying to get something off the floor.

The same day we took that picture, Alaina had on a little sailor dress from my Grandpa S. She looked to me like she belonged in the Sound of Music!

A Special Birthday

Yesterday was Kyle's birthday and such a fun one! Alaina has just gotten interested in birthdays, and walks around the house saying "Happy, happy, happy!".

After a special supper we all went to the county fair. It was SO much fun to see it all thorough Alaina's (very wide) eyes! She could hardly move, she was so transfixed by all the noise, color and movement.

"Wow, those sheep are so much bigger than they are in my animal books!" First came the cows, then the sheep . . .

. . . and then the pigs. By this time Alaina recovered herself enough to actually move a little, mimic their noises and laugh at their funny "noses".

She thought those wiggling, snorting, exploring snouts were just hilarious!

By the time we got to the horses, we were really having fun.

We had to laugh at the baby goat trying to nurse off Kyle's finger. Goats are so cute, we know why people put up with all the trouble they can make!

By the last shed Alaina had warmed up enough to actually try to pet the goats (quickly retracting her hand if they actually got too close). I think the pigs were her favorite though. She snorted and said "piggy" all the way home!

Transfixed again on our way out, by the same spectacle that caught her eye when we first arrived.

Those flashing, screaming, moving things!

We ended the day with some little gifts and Kyle's birthday "cake". (Here's another picture to drool over in case you missed it first time.) Made from scratch Key Lime Pie is one of his favorites, and a special request for his birthday. Delicious choice Honey!

Happy Birthday! We love you!

Last trip.

Our last trip before Little Number Two arrives was such a fun one! We gathered with most of the P. clan in AK for a birthday surprise for my sister in law, Renee. (What was it, 25th? Or maybe it was 30th? Something like that.)

We shared a lovely condo with Kenny, Emily . . .

. . . Mama, Dad and Clay.

She's coming! Kristi and Layla Ann, who kept reminding us "Shhh! Surprise!".

Waiting in the dark.

Waiting and putting in pigtails.

Haley, Clay and Conner. Is she coming in the front door, or the back?

Happy birthday Renee! I think she was surprised. ;-)

Did someone say "cake"?

Alaina and Clay keeping warm.

We went out that night for a celebratory family supper. Gretchen kindly attempted some family pictures for us, difficult subjects as we are. But we didn't get any pictures of her and her family! (I think they all ended up on her camera.) :-( It was fun to be with you guys, though!

What was that? So big? Hurray for bread sticks?

The birthday girl with Mama and Dad.

Renee and one of the accomplices in the surprise. Somehow we missed getting pictures of the main instigators, David and Tia, but we did get shots of their little cutie!

Emily, My Beloved and Kenny.

While we grown ups had fun relaxing and visiting, Layla Ann and Alaina had fun copying each other! If one laughed, the other did, if one sat down, the other had to too!

They were so funny! They played together very well though, which was fun.
The staircase and the pool were Alaina's secondary entertainers.

Relaxing.

One of the card sharks. I played a couple games with the kids and got slaughtered if my memory serves me correctly. All in good fun, of course.

Alaina just soaked up all the love and attention from her Aunts.

Conner with half of his fan club.

I'm so glad we got to go down! It was such a lovely little vacation and so nice to get to see everyone. Thanks Renee for giving us such a good excuse for an absolutely wonderful time!

Once upon a time . . .

. . . there was a little girl,

who liked to put her mouth on everything.

Until her parents told her not to.

This did not make her happy, even though she had to admit that most things didn't taste all that great anyway.

She hardly knew what to do without using her mouth!

Her parents told her that there were other things to do and other ways to have fun.

At first, she was skeptical.

Then she discovered that they were right!

She was a happy little girl once again.

The end.

Galavanting

We've had a whirlwind of exciting trips around here, getting in all the visiting we wanted to do before we're home bound with Little Boy.
(We've officially settled in now.)

We got to spend some time up at my folks, which included visits with my Grandparents, a church pot luck and a date night with Kyle. (We dressed up and went to one of the Wildfire restaurants and then made an ice cream stop. Oh, was it fun, and so delicious! Thank you babysitters and the "hotel" staff who helped to make the evening so delightful!)

We also did a bit of swimming.

Nana and Grandpa had everything ready with a special floaty seat.

Uncle Nate makes the transfer. When Alaina says his name, it sounds more like "Uncle Neck", but she definitely knows who she is talking about! And yes, it was a bit chilly getting in at first.

Alaina was hilarious in the pool. Every time one of the Uncles or Aunt Haley went underwater, she got this big eyed, open mouthed expression which plainly said "Where did they go?"

Another benefit of having a baby in the pool was how quiet and relaxing it was. Somehow after she went in for her nap things sort of erupted, and all these squirt guns appeared out of nowhere. Humm. There sure was a lot of laughter going with all that water though!

Yes, it was every bit as refreshing as it looks in the pictures! Fun times. :-)
